....Each spring, Kevin and I make a pilgrimage to the Eastern Cascades where this member of
the Bitterroot family is endemic. The harshness of the terrain in which it lives is a sharp
contrast to the profusion of flowers this little plant puts out as the snowmelt recedes.
They last only about a week, so timing is critical. My third attempt at painting them became my
first successful effort.
